CHARLOTTETOWN, PE – A field of top-class pacers will clash in the $5,100 Preferred 2 pace, headlining the Saturday card at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park.
The 12-dash presentation kicks off at 12:30 P.M.
Bee Two Bee has been installed as the 5-2 morning line favourite from post 5 in the race 11 feature for driver Jason Hughes and trainer Ashley Gamester. The Sunshine Beach pacer has been a seven-time winner this season and comes into the event off a gritty second-place finish in the $50,000 Premier’s Cup. Bee Two Bee had his 1:50.1 co-held track record upended that day as Miki Shan N etched his name in history in 1:49.4. Donald MacRae of Vernon Bridge co-owns Bee Two Bee with Blair MacLauchlan.
Twin B Tuffenuff (To be driven by Gilles Barrieau) leaves from post 3 as the 3-1 second choice for the Ron Matheson barn after finishing runner-up in his last two starts at this overnight level. The 2024 Governor’s Plate champion has hit the board in 14 of 17 seasonal tries as he creeps closer to 50 lifetime wins.
Wind Blown has post 4 for driver Corey MacPherson and trainer Phil Sizer. The Mach Three pacer has been a consistent top-level performer throughout the campaign and has won five of his last six starts.
House Edge Hanover (Ken Murphy) has been steadily rising through the ranks and will try to duplicate his 1:54.3 winning effort from late September, while Malignity (Paul Langille) draws post 1 with back-to-back wins coming into this event.
The Post Time Picks have Bee Two Bee on top.
“When you look at the stats, Bee Two Bee has had a dynamite season and has visited the winner’s circle seven times. He draws post five and the Blue Knight knows him best so expect them to hit the wire first and be smiling for the camera.”
The Preferred undercard also features the $3,500 In Memory of Jerome Campbell Pace in race 6, where Sports Teller (Adam Merner) is the 5-2 morning line favourite fresh off a runner-up effort for owners Rebecca Macleod, Gabby MacNevin, Michael Arsenault and Joey Farrell, with Allaboutthecash (Brady Sweet) and Neptune Seelster (Paul Langille) among the top contenders.
