SUMMERSIDE, PE – Doc Awesome was all business late in the night to capture Tuesday’s $4,300 top condition pace in race 12 at Red Shores Summerside Raceway, capping a huge evening for driver David Dowling.
Sitting off the speed in sixth in the featured pace, Dowling brushed the All Bets Off gelding to the lead past the five-eighths and kept the pedal down to win in 1:55.3, with Sauble Attack (Driven by Ken Murphy) second and American Risk (Brady Sweet) third. Doc Awesome ($14.40) was a winner by one-and-three-quarter lengths for co-owner and trainer Darla MacEachern and co-owners Allen Gaudet and Mike Cameron.
Dowling authored a four-win night, stringing together a late-card heater as he also won with Twisted Joke ($3.60) in 1:58.4 for trainer Sifroi Melanson in race 9, Elm Grove Quest ($10.90) in 1:58.3 for Allan Jones in race 10 and Howmac Charmer ($4.10) on top in 1:56.3 for trainer Kyle Williams in race 11.
The four-pack puts Dowling in control of the driver’s standings at the Prince County track with 53 wins on the season, while MacPherson now sits second with 52 wins and Paul Langille rounds out the top-three with 49 trips to the winner’s circle. Earl Watts continues to hold a 23-20 advantage over Phil Sizer for leading training honours.
