SUMMERSIDE, PE – The top pacers in Prince County will square off Monday evening at Red Shores Summerside Raceway with Sauble Attack set as the morning line favourite in the feature event.
The 11-dash card kicks off at 6 P.M., with the $4,300 top class in race 10.
Sauble Attack has post 5 as the 5-2 favourite for trainer Paul Biggar, who co-owns with Donald Callbeck. The Bettors Delight gelding has been razor-sharp all season, hitting the board week after week and finishing just a half-length shy of victory last week in 1:55. The eight-year-old carries the black-and-orange colours of Kenny Murphy and will look for the horse’s 26th lifetime victory.
Mantario (To be driven by David Dowling) leaves from post 3 as the 3-1 second choice for owner Jennifer Ritchie of New Brunswick after finishing third in the Rod Goguen Memorial at Connell Park Raceway in Woodstock, N.B., last week. The Sportswriter gelding has been a model of consistency, finishing top-three in nearly every recent start.
Howmac Maximus (Paul Langille) draws the rail at 7-2 for trainer Tammy Collins after a pair of strong efforts including 1:57.2 win last week.
Jack Boswall (Ryan Desroche) will look to extend a streak of sharp finishes from post 4 for the Keith MacDonell stable, while Doc Awesome (Corey MacPherson) lines up from post 2 for the Darla MacEachern Stable after finishing third at this level last week.
The Backstretch Beat likes Mantario to win.
“Mantario is a hard-hitting campaigner who has been right there almost every start all season. Dowling knows him well and his consistency at this level makes him one they’ll all have to fend off in the lane.”
