SUMMERSIDE, PE – The mid-card feature stole the show Tuesday evening at Red Shores at the Summerside Raceway as Sauble Attack blew up the toteboard.
The $5,100 featured pace in race 8 had Sauble Attack ($32.30) stalk the pace, then uncorked a 27.4 closing panel to nail race pacesetter Doc Awesome (Driven by David Dowling) in 1:55 after splits of 28, 57 and 1:26. The seven-year-old son of Bettors Delight delivered at boxcar odds for trainer Paul Biggar and co-owner Donald Callbeck with Ken Murphy engineering the winning trip. T H Boomtown (Gilles Barrieau) rallied for second with Doc Awesome third.
The late feature was another Murphy victory as he steered Rose Run X Con ($4.60) to a front-end score for trainer Nicholas Oakes, stopping the clock in 1:57.2. The McArdle gelding is owned by JD Racing Inc. of Cornwall and repelled the bids of Howmac Maximus (Paul Langille) and Howmac Exclusive (Corey MacPherson).
The Oakes stable doubled up on the night with Doctor Grenfell ($2.90) and driver Barrieau taking a pocket-ride to a 1:56.3 victory for owner Milton Young of Paradise, NL.
Barrieau scored a driving triple populated by his own Twin B Betonit ($3.00) in a 2:04.2 maiden score as well as Brokeandoutofgas ($2.50) in a snappy 1:55 for owner-trainer Tammy Collings.
Marleys Boy ($4.80) timed it right in Race 7, circling late to win in 1:58.1 for trainer Earl Watts to kick start a Langille driving triple. Langille, a native of Nova Scotia, then won with 14-year-old veteran Well Did ($4.30) in Race 9 getting up by a neck in 1:57.4, then Good Omen ($2.10) in a runaway win in Race 11 drawing off in 1:56, both from his own Pinette Stable.
Live racing continues Thursday evening at 6 P.M., at Red Shores Charlottetown.
