CHARLOTTETOWN, PE – Sweet Molly was all class in the Thursday night feature for fillies and mares at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park.
Sweet Molly ($2.70) sat the pocket in the $4,150 feature behind pacesetter Redland Misspretty (Driven by Paul Langille) with splits of 27.2, 55.1 and 1:25 before firing late to win by one-and-a-half lengths in 1:54.2 for trainer-driver David Dowling, who co-owns with Clair Murphy, Derrill Murphy and Cindy MacLean. My Happy Place (Gilles Barrieau) came from last to finish second with Galway Girl (Marc Campbell) completing the triactor.
One of the night’s best pops came in the Race 9 “The Brown Wedding November 1, 2025” pace when Promise Me Later ($22.20) blasted off the wings and never looked back in 1:55.1 for trainer-driver Dowling, fending off odds-on favourite Acefortyfour Dome (Jason Hughes) as the $2 Triactor lit the board at $1,128.40.
Moon Bound ($2.10) kept right on rolling in Race 10, pacing away in 1:56.3 as part of a driving triple for Dowling from the Jennifer Doyle barn.
Rocket Blast ($2.10) put on a trotting clinic earlier on the card, dominating Race 3 by over five lengths in 1:57.3 for owner Carl Bagnall and trainer-driver Corey MacPherson. The four-year-old son of E L Rocket rolled through fractions of 28.4, 59.1 and 1:29.2 then blasted home in 28.1 to keep Hallofaride (Ryan Desroche) and Majian Salsa (Jim Ripley) at bay.
The MacPherson barn doubled as the Cornwall driver stick handled Rosetown Mary ($2.30) to victory in 1:56 in the race 12 finale.
Live racing continues Saturday afternoon at 12:30 P.M., at Red Shores Charlottetown.
