SUMMERSIDE, PE – The Tuesday evening program at Red Shores at the Summerside Raceway lines up 15 dashes starting at 6 P.M. with a mid-card feature in Race 8 and a late-classified clash in Race 14.
The Race 8 featured pace carries a $5,100 purse and it looks to be a showdown among some proven campaigners. Doc Awesome has the rail with David Dowling at the controls for co-owner and trainer Darla MacEachern and co-owners Allen Gaudet and Mike Cameron. The five-year-old son of All Bets Off has been a model of consistency with top-three finishes in his last five starts, including a 1:55.3 Summerside victory in his latest where he circled the field.
T H Boomtown, from post 2, looms as the morning line choice with Gilles Barrieau handling the lines for trainer Ron Matheson. The son of Captain Crunch has celebrated four wins during this campaign including a 1:56.2 win in his last start over a muddy track at Red Shores Charlottetown.
Rounding out the top selections is American Risk, a nine-year-old veteran of 52 lifetime wins who will start from post 3 for trainer George Rennison and driver Brady Sweet. He last found the Summerside winner’s circle on Sept. 9, winning in 1:56.4 that day, and has knocked off the top class at his home base twice since then at the Truro Raceway in Bible Hill, N.S.
Sauble Attack (To be driven by Ken Murphy) has post 4 from the Paul Biggar barn and Brookdale Johnny (Paul Langille) is the post 5 starter for trainer Phil Sizer.
The Backstretch Beat puts TH Boomtown on top.
“T H Boomtown is the class of this group on paper and looks poised to keep his winning momentum rolling. He’s been firing on all cylinders lately, showing both early gate speed and finishing power. With Barrieau back in the bike and a good post to work with, he’s clearly the one they’ll be aiming for when the wings fold.”
The spotlight returns in Race 14, where a $3,750 event has Rose Run X Con the top choice for driver Murphy, trainer Nicholas Oakes and owner JD Racing Inc., of Cornwall. The six-year-old son of McArdle was a winner in his last Summerside appearance with a front-end 1:56.2 score.
His top foes include Howmac Maximus (Langille) and Howmac Exclusive (MacPherson).
