CHARLOTTETOWN, PE – Windemere Skye put the finishing touches on perfection Saturday afternoon in the Home Hardware Maritime Breeders Stakes at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park.
Windemere Skye ($2.10) stayed unheeded on the year in race 5’s $36,200 Maritime Breeder’s two-year-old filly division, making every call a winning one in 1:58.1 over an off-track with Marc Campbell driving for trainer Earl Watts and owners Windemere Farms and Matt Burke. The Somewhere Fancy filly now sits an unblemished 12-for-12 in her spectacular young career.
Beach Jewels ($3.10) kicked off the card in race 1 in a $36,200 Maritime Breeders two-year-old filly division, controlling the tempo and sprinting home in 1:58.4 for driver Marc Campbell, trainer Kevin MacLean and owner Reg MacPherson of Stratford.
Zero Two Sixty ($3.10) was all business in race 2’s $25,200 Maritime Breeders two-year-old colt split, fronting his field and stopping the clock in 1:59 for David Dowling and trainer Sifroi Melanson. The Tobago Cays gelding races for the Ultimate Stable of Greater Lakeburn, N.B.
Atlantic Champion Sporty Anthony ($2.70) was sharp in race 9, wiring the $25,200 two-year-old colt division in 1:58 for driver Ken Murphy and owner-trainer Jason Biggar, who co-owns with Jason Williams.
Woodmere Kobe ($2.40) delivered in race 6’s $25,200 two-year-old colt division, rating kindly and fending off late challengers in 1:57.4 for trainer-driver Kenny Arsenault and owners Peter Smith and Gerald Morrissey.
Badgirl Bridgette ($2.10) kept her sparkling sophomore season rolling in race 3, taking the $23,650 Maritime Breeders three-year-old filly division in 1:56.1 for driver Jason Hughes and owner-trainer Bill Lanigan of Montague.
Elm Grove Talia ($2.10) added another top-notch effort in race 7’s $23,650 three-year-old filly division, rallying to a 1:57.4 score for driver-trainer David Dowling and owners Kingsley Walsh, Donald Walsh, Frank Balcom and Shane Baglole.
Howmac Maleficent ($2.30) proved best in race 10’s $23,650 three-year-old filly division, dictating terms and closing it out in 1:59.1 for driver Ken Murphy, trainer Gordie Hennessey and owners Lori Hennessey and Paul-Émile Bernard.
Phil My Beer ($3.70) captured the first $32,850 Maritime Breeders three-year-old colt division in race 4, carving out fractions and lasting in 1:56.1 for driver Marc Campbell and trainer Landon Campbell. The Shanghai Phil colt is owned by Brady Doyle, Ryan MacLeod, Kent MacDonald and Brent Campbell.
Camco Lucas ($22.30) produced the afternoon’s big upset in race 8’s $32,850 three-year-old colt division, outkicking favoured Bentley (Driven by Marc Campbell) in 1:58.1 with Brodie MacPhee engineering the winning steer for trainer Tom Weatherbie and owners Hal and Ian Smith.
Windemere Saddy ($10.00) sealed the afternoon feature in race 11, taking the $15,150 Atlantic Aged Pacing Mares Series Final, presented by Standardbred Canada, in 1:56.1 after a front-end steer by Ken Murphy for trainer and co-owner Saul Lanigan and co-owners Shane Esson, Darcy Doyle and Isaac Schurman. Miss Dutton (Paul Langille) was a game second with Sugar Bowl (Brady Sweet) rounding out the triactor.
