SUMMERSIDE, PE – All Bets On Tex was all business on opening day at Red Shores at the Summerside Raceway during a special Victoria Day Monday program.
The Jeff Lilley trained son of All Bets Off powered to the lead in the $3,600 featured pace and led through every call in 27.4, 56.2, 1:26 and 1:55.1. Adam Merner was in the race bike for owners Lilley, Blair MacLauchlan, Kent Livingston and Marc Gallant in his first start of 2024 on P.E.I. after racing the Winter months in Ontario. Middleton Terror (Driven by David Dowling) challenged late but had to settle for second while Coasttocoastshark (Jaycob Sweet) was third.
Mr Kelly was victorious in the $2,850 back-up class, pacing to a 1:56.4 mile for driver Merner, trainer Melissa Rennie and owners Marsha Knox, Cory Livingston and Kevin Teasdale. Howmac Maximus (Damian MacLellan) was second ahead of Frontier Cruise (Brady Sweet).
Jaycob Sweet doubled up as a trainer-driver with James Reigns in a maiden breaking score of 2:02.2 and with Freemans Legacy in a front-stepping 1:57.1 mile.
Live racing continues at Red Shores Summerside on Sunday May 26 with the P.E.I. Colt Stakes for three-year-old pacing fillies and colts.
