CHARLOTTETOWN, PE – First Glance was all systems go as he recorded a personal best performance as part of a Jennifer Doyle training triple Saturday afternoon at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park.
The roan son of Thinking Out Loud was sent alertly to the lead by driver David Dowling and was in a league of his own as he sprinted through splits of 27.2, 56.2, 1:24 and 1:52.2 for the fastest win of his career. Danny Birt holds the ownership papers of the six-year-old as he took his $3,500 assignment.
Spectrum Seelster won the race 8 Kenmac Energy Pace for a $3,150 for the duo of the same combination of driver Dowling, trainer Doyle and owner Birt in 1:53.2 in a tight photo with JK Last Chance (Driven by Kenny Arsenault).
Sharky was the first part of the Doyle training triple as driver Damian MacLellan turned a first-over bid into victory in race 3 with a final time of 1:56.3.
Driver Gilles Barrieau had a driving triple on the day with House Edge Hanover (1:54.2) for trainer Ron Matheson, Starship Glyde (1:55.1) from the Earl Watts stable and with Bethereinabit (1:57.3) for conditioner Ashley Gamester.
Gamester doubled up on the program as Shadows Terror (Mark Bradley) won race 11 in 1:56.3.
West Coast Kid won the Race 6 Brent MacDougall Memorial in 1:56.1 for driver Brodie MacPhee and trainer Phil Kelly. Kelly and MacPhee also won race 7 with Georges Credit in 1:58.2.
Rymar Jimbo recorded the fastest win of his career in the race 5 P.E.I. Pride Festival Pace, as he stopped the clock in 1:54.4 for driver Marc Campbell and trainer Eric Doucette.
Live racing at Red Shores Charlottetown will take a hiatus until July 25 as action shifts to Red Shores Summerside for Governor’s Plate Week racing. The week of world class harness racing begins Sunday afternoon at 1 P.M. at Red Shores Summerside with the $8,500 Governor’s Plate eliminations.
