SUMMERSIDE, PE – After winning the Nova Scotia leg of the Gamester-Pinkney Cup Keith Legge will team up with race favourite Western Phil in the Championship Final Tuesday evening at Red Shores at the Summerside Raceway.
The western oval has 14-dashes set for a 6 P.M. opening post time with Western Phil and Legge the morning line favourite from post 7 in the race 7 Gamester-Pinkney Cup Final. The series, named after legendary Atlantic Canadian Horsemen Byron Gamester and Phil Pinkney, is for drivers 30 years and younger with less than 100 lifetime wins.
The eight-horse field also has La Vie En Rose (Driven by Kyle Desroche), Bohannon (Jaycob Sweet), JJ Patrick (Brady Sweet), Bump In The Road (Brett Leblanc), Bold N Bad (Brett Clow), Late Night Dealer (Keigan Madden) and Top Of Her Trade (Ryder Rennison).
The Post Time picks calls the dash wide open while selecting JJ Patrick to win.
“Your guess is as good as ours on what is about to happen in this wide-open field. Brady Sweet was the leading driver in Charlottetown earlier this season so he knows how to put a horse in position. We think JJ Patrick can get it all.”
The evening top class lines up in race 13 with Wind Blown (Paul Langille) looking to repeat his Aug. 20 victory from post 1 for trainer Phil Sizer and owners Doug Polley Jr., and Doug Polley Sr. The free-legged son of Mach Three went all the way by open lengths that day in 1:53.1. This week, he takes on Rockin Corona (Darren Crowe), Tony Too Tall (Myles Heffernan Sr.), Woodmere Ideal Art (Jason Hughes) and American Risk (Corey MacPherson).
