SUMMERSIDE, PE – Brookdale Johnny takes on some talented pacers in the Tuesday evening featured pace at Red Shores at the Summerside Raceway.
The 15-dash card gets underway at 6 P.M., with the feature offering a $4,300 purse in race 14.
Brookdale Johnny is assigned post 6 in the final field of six for driver Paul Langille, trainer Phil Sizer and owners Doug Polley Jr., and Doug Polley Sr., of Amherst, N.S. The five-year-old son of Rockin In Heaven was race-timed in 1:53.3 his last start while finishing second to Roll Em and was a winner in 1:55 and change on June 3 in Summerside.
Looking to stand in his way is Mr Kelly (To be driven by Adam Merner) from Post 5, who has been rock solid all season while facing some top level pacers.
Post 1 is populated by Sauble Attack for trainer Paul Biggar and driver Ken Murphy. A winner in 1:55.4 two-back, he was fourth in top class action last time.
Howmac Charmer (David Dowling) gets post 2 from the Kyle Williams barn after finishing sixth in the top class last week won by Roll Em.
Braxtons Boy (Norris Rogers) holds down post 3 from the Rick Armstrong stable as he looks for his first win of the season after six second-place finishes.
Navalny (Brady Sweet) leaves from post 4 for trainer Jeff Holmes. The four-year-old has been superb in his two races this year with second-place finishes in 1:52.3 and 1:53.4.
The Backstretch Beat pegs Brookdale Johnny as the one to beat.
“Brookdale Johnny has been keeping some stiff company and handling them well as he has been knocking on the door in recent starts. Langille knows him well and this gelding has proven he can take a long drive and still punch through. With his versatility and solid final quarters, he’s dangerous if within reach at the head of the lane.”
The back-up class lines up in race 10 with Rollwithhottytoddy the favourite in the $3,650 bout with rail control for driver Murphy and owner-trainer Trevor Hicken of Montague. His main rivals are slated as Sharky (Taylor Doyle) and Rose Run X Con (Rogers).
