SUMMERSIDE, PE – Howmac Charmer rode the two-hole to victory as part of a David Dowling grand slam Tuesday evening at Red Shores at the Summerside Raceway.
The Kyle Williams trainee sat second in the $4,300 featured pace behind pacesetter Sauble Attack (Driven by Ken Murphy) through splits of 27.1, 57 and 1:26.1. Howmac Charmer ($13.30) angled out at the head of the stretch to win in 1::55.1 with Sauble Attack three-quarters-of-a-length back in second and Navalny (Brady Sweet) third. Doug Williams of Ontario owns the winning son of Malicious.
Dowling had four driving wins on the program.
Williams had two wins on the night as Redland Misspretty ($3.40) won in 1:54.4 for driver Paul Langille, who had his own driving triple.
Rose Run X Con ($16.60) captured the $3,650 back-up class in 1:55.3 for driver Norris Rogers, trainer Nicholas Oakes and owner JD Racing Inc., of Cornwall.
Twisted Joke ($84.10) had the upset of the night in a 2:02 maiden breaking score for driver Kyle Mason, trainer Sifroi Melanson and owner Ultimate Stable of Greater Lakeburn, N.B.
Adam Merner had a driving triple while trainer Earl Watts sent out a pair of winners from his Springvale stable.
