CHARLOTTETOWN, PE – Driver Gilles Barrieau and trainer Jeff Holmes will team up with Sugar Bowl in a Saturday afternoon quest for the Fillies and Mares feature winner’s circle at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park.
With the calendar flipped to November, Red Shores Charlottetown will switch to a Saturday and Sunday afternoon schedule until Dec. 15, when racing goes down to once a week. Regular first-race post time will be 12:30 P.M., for those programs.
On Saturday afternoon, the $3,700 Fillies and Mares featured pace hits the track in race 10 with Sugar Bowl (To be driven by Barrieau) putting her nose on post 3 on the starting gate for trainer Holmes and owners Tommy Collings and Brian MacPhee of Mount Stewart.
Acefortyfour Dome (Jason Hughes) rides into the event with a pair of victories and will be saddled with post 5 for trainer Ashley Gamester.
Other entries include Rosetown Mary (Corey MacPherson), Maggiesdelight (Marc Campbell) and Chelski (Damian MacLellan).
The Post Time Picks like Sugar Bowl to win.
“Sugar Bowl paid a hefty price to lead in the MacRae final and got collared by Chelski at the finish so if Barrieau can get to the front without a tussle, she could go all the way.”
Race 4 is In Memory Of Jerome Campbell as Rock N Roll Cays (David Dowling) is selected on top from post 4 for trainer Jennifer Doyle.
Race 5 is the MacPhee Memorial with Sensational Gal (Barrieau) favoured off the rail for trainer Nicholas Oakes and owner JD Racing Inc., of Cornwall.
The $3,450 Open Trot lines up in race 8 with the likes of New Legacy (Dowling), Fight Song (Hughes) and Irish Ray (Adam Merner).
Prior to the official program will be a three-horse All Star Cresting Prospect Trot Event for $3,200 at 12:15 P.M.
