CHARLOTTETOWN, PE – The rookie pacing fillies will be in the spotlight Tuesday evening during Old Home Week as the Atlantic Sires Stakes rolls into Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park.
The 13-dash presentation starts at 6 P.M. and features a pair of $15,540 “A” divisions for two-year-old pacing fillies.
The first A-division lines up in race 6 with Fallon the 5-2 morning line favourite from post 4 for trainer-driver Adam Merner and owners Not Two Stable of Cornwall. The Somewhere Fancy filly has hit the top three in every career start including wins in her last two outings. Her main opposition will come from Mysterious Ways (Jason Hughes) from post 1 and Going For Blood (Kenny Arsenault) from post 3.
Race 12 has the second $15,540 A-division with Windemere Skye the undefeated morning line favourite from post 1 for trainer Earl Watts and driver Marc Campbell with Windemere Farms sharing ownership with Matt Burke of Stratford. The Somewhere Fancy filly is three-for-three lifetime, including a 1:55.3 victory in her latest appearance. Beach Jewels (Gilles Barrieau) from post 3 and Saulsbrook Desi (Brodie MacPhee) from post 2 will look to hand out her first career defeat.
The Atlantic Sires Stakes program also features $6,000 “B” divisions for the rookie pacing fillies in races 2, 4, 8, and 10.
Tuesday’s program begins with the Carolyn “Soup” Gormley Memorial in race 1, followed by the Gordon Neill Memorial in race 3. Other features include the Poulton Family Memorial in race 5, the PEI Energy Systems Pace in race 7, the Angela Roberts Smith Friends & Family Pace in race 9, the Paul Weeks Memorial in race 11, and the Kier Jones & Allie Carr Memorial in race 13.
