SUMMERSIDE, PE – Badgirl Bridgette and Starship Laska delivered powerful performances on Friday evening at Red Shores at the Summerside Raceway, capturing their respective $18,080 Atlantic Sires Stakes A-divisions for three-year-old pacing fillies.
Starship Laska ($2.80) strutted to a track record tying performance in race 5, using gate-to-wire tactics for Marc Campbell to score in 1:54.4. The daughter of Arthur Blue Chip is trained by Earl Watts, who recorded a training triple, for the ownership group of Windemere Farms, Beryl McNeill, Sterling Buchanan and Jack Quinn. Howmac Maleficent (Driven by Ken Murphy) took the two-hole trip and finished second while Tobins Dream (David Dowling) rounded out the triactor. The 1:54.4 clocking ties the three-year-old pacing filly record set by JJ Scarlett in 2022 and equaled by Rosetown Mary in 2023.
Badgirl Bridgette ($2.10) extended her dominance with a first-over assault in race 9, collaring early leader Elm Grove Talia through a blistering :27.4 closing quarter to win by half-a-length in 1:55 flat. Jason Hughes engineered the winning trip for trainer and owner William Lanigan of Montague. Elm Grove Talia (Dowling) cut the mile but had to settle for second while Lady Llamrei (Adam Merner) was a solid third.
In $6,000 Atlantic Sires Stakes B division action Jafetica ($3.00) controlled race 3 from the outset and held on by a neck for trainer Myles Heffernan Jr., owner Jackie Heffernan and Myles Heffernan Sr. in the bike. Windemereontheline ($5.90) capitalized on a late lunge in race 2 to nose out heavy favourite Lorne Valley Liv in 1:59 for driver Marc Campbell and trainer Earl Watts. Windemere Classie ($2.10) continued her winning ways with an effortless 1:58.2 score in race 6 for trainer Watts and driver Marc Campbell, widening by five lengths on the line.
The Bud Ramsay Memorial was claimed by Sensational Gal ($3.20) in line to Norris Rogers for trainer Nick Oakes and owner JD Racing Inc., of Cornwall.
Marc Campbell had five wins on the night to take control of the driving standings at Red Shores Summerside with 25 victories in 2025, ahead of Corey MacPherson with 24 wins. Campbell also leads the Basil Whelan memorial top driver standings for Governor’s Plate week.
Racing continues Saturday at 4 P.M. for a 16-dash program featuring the 57 edition of the Governor’s Plate, presented by Summerside Chrysler Dodge. For more visit RedShores.ca.
