CHARLOTTETOWN, PE – Bee Two Bee rallied from mid-pack to score an open-length victory in the Saturday afternoon Preferred Pace at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park.
Bee Two Bee (Driven by Jason Hughes) came from fourth to advance first-over and grab the lead from pacesetter Bacononabiscuit (Adam Merner) around the final turn before scoring in 1:55.3 at 3-5 final wagering odds. No Plan Intended (David Dowling) was second with Blood Money (Gilles Barrieau) finishing third. Ashley Gamester trains the winning horse for owners Donald MacRae and Blair MacLauchlan.
The winner’s circle was a familiar sight for driver Barrieau who hit the wire first in four races on the afternoon. The Dieppe, N.B., native won with Buddysnvirgins (2:01.3) at 19-1 odds for trainer Darrell Neill, Ideal Jet (2:02) at 2-1 for trainer Tammy Collings and with a pair of Ron Matheson trainees in Topville Angelina (2:01.4) at 3-1 and Sunseeker (2:01) at 7-5 odds.
The duo of driver Myles Heffernan Sr., and trainer Trevor Hicken doubled up on the program winning with Sonny Black (1:59) at 2-1 odds and Tony Too Tall (1:58) at 7-1 odds. Both horses are owned by Perry Burke of Quebec.
Trainer Jennifer Doyle scored a pair of wins as New Legacy (2:01.3) won the trot class at 2-1 odds and First Glance (1:59.1) went all the way at 7-5 in race 13, both with Dowling in the bike for owner Danny Birt. Dowling also drove Blue Monk to victory in 2:00.1 at 1-1 odds in race 6 for trainer Mike Dowling.
Dusty Lane Zorro (1:58.4) won his third straight for driver Don MacNeill and trainer Ronn Gass, this time at 1-2 odds.
