CHARLOTTETOWN, PE – The stakes race domination continued for Badgirl Bridgette during Lady Slipper stake action on Saturday afternoon at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park.
Trained and owned by William Lanigan of Cambridge, Badgirl Bridgette won her $25,850 Lady Slipper Gold division for two-year-old pacing fillies in line to Jason Hughes in 1:56.4 for her fifth straight win from six lifetime starts.
The other $25,850 Lady Slipper Gold division for two-year-old pacing fillies saw Muchtooyoungforyou (Driven by Marc Campbell) win in 1:56.4 from the Earl Watts barn for owners Windemere Farms, River Valley Management and Matt Burke.
The $12,925 Lady Slipper Grassroots divisions were captured by Elm Grove Treasure (Corey MacPherson) in 1:59.2 for trainer Kyle Williams, Mindbodyandsoul (David Dowling) in 1:58.3 for trainer Watts and Steady Heart (Campbell) in 1:58.4 for Bo Ford.
Freshman star Malevolent won by open lengths in 1:56.2 in the $25,500 Joe O’Brien Memorial Gold stake for two-year-old pacing colts for trainer-driver Paul Langille and owners Debbie Francis and Rosanne Langille of Nova Scotia.
Rosetown Eclipse was the best in the other $25,500 Joe O’Brien Memorial Gold division for rookie colts in 1:56.3 for trainer-driver Corey MacPherson trains and owners Rosetown Stable, Jim Gorman and Mike Gorman.
The $12,750 O’Brien Grassroots divisions went to Bentley (Campbell) in 1:59.2 for trainer John Clarey and Evil Lou (Mike McGuigan) in 1:59.2.
Campbell had four driving wins on the day to continue his lead in the Red Shores driver’s standings.
The $4,500 Preferred Pace was won by Twin B Tuffenuff (Gilles Barrieau) in a 1:52.2 trip for trainer Ron Matheson and owner Pat Morris of Charlottetown.
