Jack Boswall Heads For Consolation Glory

By Nicholas Oakes For Red Shores

CHARLOTTETOWN, PE – Jack Boswall has stamped himself as one of the top colts in Atlantic Canada and will aim for the winner’s circle on Consolation Saturday during the Atlantic Breeder’s Crown Weekend Of Champions, presented by MacRae’s Backhoe and Trucking, at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park.

The capital oval has a 14-dash presentation starting at 12:30 P.M., with the three-year-old pacing colt consolation carrying a $7,500 pot in race 12. Keith MacDonell co-owns and trains Jack Boswall with co-owners Mark MacDonell and Blenise Young. Marc Campbell drives the son of Tobago Cays.

He is up against seven foes including Heres To Art (To be driven by Ken Murphy) and Ididitmyshui (Jason Hughes).

Jack Boswall is on top of the Post Time Picks in race 12.

“Jack Boswall has been up against some tough customers and more than holding his own. While you’re at it have a look at those snappy closing quarters and that’s why he’s on top of the podium today.”

Race 9 is the $7,500 Atlantic Breeder’s Crown three-year-old pacing filly consolation with Downtown Tonight (Adam Merner) on top with rail control against First Filly Chip (Corey MacPherson) and Woodmere Delta (David Dowling). Tom Weatherbie trains Downtown Tonight for Cam and Gordon MacPhee.

Prince Malicious (Hughes) gets top billing in the race 6 two-year-old pacing colt consolation for $7,500. The Ashley Gamester trainee is owned by Donald MacRae of Vernon Bridge. His opponents include Phil My Beer (Marc Campbell) and Dilicious (Gilles Barrieau).

Race 3 is the Atlantic Breeder’s Crown consolation for two-year-old pacing fillies with Badgirl Bridgette heading for her sixth straight from post 6. Hughes drives for owner-trainer William Lanigan of Cambridge. Her foes are seven strong with Cast Away Moon (Barrieau) and Howmac Maleficent (Ken Murphy).

The Atlantic Breeder’s Crown Pancake Breakfast is at 9 A.M., Sunday morning at Red Shores Charlottetown.
