CHARLOTTETOWN, PE – With a pair of Open Trot victories in the rearview mirror, Jessiejesorjessica will head to the gate in the Thursday evening feature at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park. The 11-dash program starts off at 6 P.M. Red Shores and Industry officials will be monitoring the weather system approaching Prince Edward Island. Updates will be provided by 12 Noon.
Race 8 is the top assignment in the $3,300 Open Trot with Jessiejesorjessica the morning line favourite from the assigned post 6 for driver David Dowling, trainer Jennifer Doyle and owner Danny Birt. The Justice Hall eight-year won his last two outings at this level and now sits at 47 lifetime wins.
Her stablemate, New Legacy, has rail control from the Doyle barn with Adam Merner at the wheel. A 14-time winner in 2023, the Father Patrick trotter is looking for his first victory of 2024. Alcina (To be driven by Ken Murphy) has post 2 for trainer Doyle after winning her 2024 debut last week.
Mile Hill Willie (Gilles Barrieau) holds down post 4 for trainer Paul Morrison as he makes his first start since July of 2023.
Irish Ray (Marc Campbell) has put together four straight second-place finishes this season on P.E.I. from the Landon Campbell outfit and has post 5 Thursday.
The Post Time Picks like New Legacy on top.
“New Legacy has been sharp since arriving on the Island and really not that far away. There’s little doubt Adam will be guarding the cones and if that’s the case he could return to his winning ways.”
Woodmere Rollily is the top choice in the race 11 finale for a $3,050 pot. Merner drives the Melissa Rennie trainee as she seeks her third straight for owners Marsha Knox and Cory Livingston from post 6. Her chief rivals are listed as Outrageous Style (Barrieau) from post 8 and Elm Grove Redwine (Dowling) with post 4.
