CHARLOTTETOWN, PE – Ms Meaghan Sparkel was given the garden journey on her way to an upset victory in the Thursday evening featured pace at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park.
Ryan Desroche was in the race bike behind the Shayna Toll trained and owned daughter of Big Jim for her 1:59 score while paying $27.80 to win her 13th career race. Pacesetter Plain Jane (Driven by Marc Campbell) laid down the splits of 28.4, 59.3 and 1:28.4 with Ms Meghan Sparkel leaving off the rail to sit content in the two-hole until the stretch drive. Plain Jane finished second ahead of Chip Of Evil (Corey MacPherson) in the $3,900 event.
Trainer Jamie Smith and driver Adam Merner teamed up for a pair of winners with sophomore fillies Woodmere Betcha ($2.50) in 1:58.4 and Woodmere Flojo ($3.50) in 2:00.4.
Newcomer Buckhead Ridge (Marc Campbell) was the best in the $3,850 top trot for trainer Landon Campbell and owner Brady Doyle. New Legacy (David Dowling) was the runner-up with Glider Man (Jason Hughes) completing the triactor.
Driver Gilles Barrieau recorded a driving triple on the program.
