SUMMERSIDE, PE – The trotters take centre stage during Tuesday’s program at Red Shores at the Summerside Raceway with P.E.I. Colt Stakes action as part of Governor’s Plate Week racing.
The 11-dash Tuesday card has a 6 P.M., opening post time.
The first P.E.I. Colt Stakes trot division is in race 2 carrying a $19,310 purse for three-year-old fillies. Supreme Rockette (To be driven by Gilles Barrieau) leads the five-horse field for trainer Mike McGuigan and owner Jamie Whalen of Avondale. The filly by EL Rocket has been rock-solid her entire career with 14 top-three finishes from 15 lifetime starts.
Stablemate Oceanview Nikki (McGuigan) has post 2 as the pair renew their rivalry in the field of five.
Also in the field are Majian Mystery (Jim Ripley), Dusty Lane Kahlua (Ryan Desroche) and Dibsonthecaptain (Corey MacPherson).
The two-year-old trotting fillies continue their young careers in their P.E.I. Colt Stakes division in race 4 for a $18,980 purse as Hallysgurl (Barrieau) gets the top call from post 3 from the Darryl MacLean barn. The Muscle Mass filly is co-owned by Calvin Larkin and Erika Bradley as she makes her first lifetime start after a 2:04.2 qualifying win.
The field also contains Dusty Lane Margo (Jason Hughes), Shes Got Spunk (Brian MacPhee), Roseys EL Girl (Ken Murphy), Miss Gracie Ridge (Ambyr Campbell), Bonmati (Marc Campbell) and Emberlees Rocket (Corey MacPherson).
West River Karuna (Ken MacDonald) headlines the P.E.I Colt Stakes rookie trotting colt division in race 7 with $18,980 on the line. Clare MacDonald trains the son of Legion Of Honor for owner Haley MacDonald of Stratford. He was a winner in 2:03.1 in his career debut in a division of the Atlantic Sires Stakes. Other contenders are Mr Old Home Week (Desroche), Little Louis (MacPherson), Big Rig (McGuigan), Howmac Prime Time (Marc Campbell), Hoponarocket (Barrieau) and Nikway Rocks It (Myles Heffernan Sr.).
The final P.E.I. Colt Stakes trot division heads postward in race 9 with $19,310 up for grabs for three-year-old trotting colts as Bless Me Father looks to remain unbeaten this season from post 1 for owner-trainer Donna Van Meer. Barrieau picks up the catch drive on the son of Father Patrick as the trotter aims for his fourth straight win from as many tries in 2025. Challenges come from In Harmony (Myles Heffernan Sr.), Apollo Thirty Four (Marc Campbell), West River Jet (Ken MacDonald), My Pocket Rocket (Murphy), Fire The Rocket (Hughes), Marcus Down Ridge (Clare MacDonald) and Dusty Lane Gus (Desroche).
