CHARLOTTETOWN, PE – Unhurried at the beginning, High Voltage Deo devoured ground late to win the Saturday afternoon Preferred Pace at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park.
Corey MacPherson was at the controls of the Brendan Curran trainee as High Voltage Deo got away seventh and last at the start while Time To Dance (Driven by Adam Merner) hit the opening quarter in 28 seconds flat. Heavily favoured Roll Em (Marc Campbell) then came calling first-over to strike the front in 57.2 followed by three-quarters in 1:27.3. High Voltage Deo came swinging from second-over in the final panel to nip Roll Em by a neck in 1:56.2. Alby Curran shares ownership of the $4,200 Preferred Pace winner with High Voltage Deo Group of Alberry Plains.
MacPherson had three driving wins also winning with his own Mr Rielly (2:01.1) and Shadows Terror (1:59.3) for trainer Jeff Holmes.
Holmes teamed up with driver Brady Sweet for a win earlier on the card with Two Tone Terror (2:00.1).
Fight Song won the $3,450 Open Trot in 2:00.2 for his third straight victory for driver Jason Hughes, trainer Ashley Gamester and owner Donald MacRae.
Ma Barker (Kenny Arsenault) won the $3,200 non-wagering All Star Cresting Prospect trot division in 2:13.2. Doug MacGregor trains the filly for owner Shotgun Stables.
