CHARLOTTETOWN, PE – Driving forward in the middle of the race track in the stretch drive, Rollwithhottytoddy was unmatched in the Gold division of the P.E.I. Colt Stakes Graduate Series, presented by Kays Wholesale, Saturday evening at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park.
Myles Heffernan Sr., was unhurried driving the Trevor Hicken owned and trained son of Rollwithitharry as they got away sixth at the opening station of 27 second flat. Island Beach Boy (Driven by Adam Merner) moved back to the front past that quarter as he was released by stablemate Fern Hill General (Brodie MacPhee) in the $5,500 event to hit the half in 56 flat. Middleton Terror (David Dowling) came calling first-up past the half and drew into contention at the three-quarters of 1:25 with Rollwithhottytoddy taking the second-over cover. Heffernan then moved his charge out in the final stanza and gobbled up ground in the stretch drive to stop the clock in 1:53.4 over Island Beach Boy and a third place Middleton Terror.
The program also had $4,300 Grassroots divisions of the P.E.I. Colt Stakes Graduate Series for horses and geldings as Brookdale Johnny won his pace in 1:55.1 for trainer Phil Sizer and driver Paul Langille, who doubled up on the night to now sit at 499 lifetime victories.
Impeccable Shadow won the other split in 1:54.2 with Merner at the lines for trainer Melissa Rennie, with that duo winning earlier on the program in overnight action with Nolans Magic Shui in 1:57.1 in a Fox Group Racing Event. Bacononabicuit tripled up Merner and Rennie in the race 14 finale in 1:55.
Good Omen (Langille) won the race 5 Fred Lamont Memorial in 1:56.1, while Rockin Your Boots (Jason Hughes) snagged the race 2 Alyre Gallant Memorial in 1:58 and Howmac Exclusive (Corey MacPherson) landed on top in the Omer Caissie Memorial in race 4 in a race time of 1:57.4.
Driver Marc Campbell had four victories to widen his lead on the driving standings for his 15th straight season. The Orwell driver won the $3,800 Preferred Pace with Roll Em in 1:52.2 from the Brent Campbell operation, as well as other wins with Keeper Floored (1:55.4) for trainer Roger MacRae, Silver Jake (1:55.4) for Devon Wallace and Jewels Dragon (1:54.1) for trainer Landon Campbell.
