CHARLOTTETOWN, PE – Trotters were out in full force in Atlantic Sires Stakes action Wednesday evening during Old Home Week at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park.
The Atlantic Sires Stakes for two-year-old trotters saw Little Louis ($2.10) win his $13,380 division for driver Corey MacPherson in 2:04 over Emberlees Rocket (Driven by Marc Campbell) and Hoponarocket (Mike McGuigan). Kuri White trains the winning son of EL Rocket for owners East Coast Captains of Cornwall.
Big Rig ($29.00) was upset bound in the other $13,380 two-year-old trot contest for trainer-driver McGuigan and owners Owen McGuigan and Jamie Whalen. The son of EL Rocket won in 2:04 over West River Karuna (Ken MacDonald) and Bonmati (MacPherson).
Oceanview Nikki ($2.10) was a confident winner in her $12,900 Atlantic Sires Stakes three-year-old trot assignment for trainer-driver McGuigan and owners Josh MacDonald, Gordon Coles and Blue Diamond Racing. Marcus Down Ridge (Clare MacDonald) snagged second with Dusty Lane Kahlua (Ryan Desroche) third. Time of the mile was 2:00.2.
The second $12,900 sophomore trot split went to West River Ket ($3.20) in line to Ken MacDonald for a 1:59.1 trip for trainer Clare MacDonald and owner Haley MacDonald of Stratford. Supreme Rockette (McGuigan) and My Pocket Rocket (Ken Murphy) filled out the triactor.
In overnight action, The Parkdale Homecoming pace in race 1 went to Serenity Now ($2.40) in 2:00 for driver Jason Hughes and trainer Ashley Gamester.
We Danced Anyway ($3.40) won the Maryjane Arsenault Memorial in race 3 in 1:57.1 with David Dowling in the seat for trainer Dwane MacEachern.
The Joe Smallwood Memorial in race 4 was won by Longblacklimousine ($2.20) in 2:02.3 with Paul Langille steering for trainer Tammy Collings.
Ubettimagoodone ($3.60) and trainer-driver Jaycob Sweet hit the wire first in the Roddy & Phyllis MacLeod Memorial in race 5 with a 1:58.4 trip.
The Confederation M&A Pace in race 7 had driver Gilles Barrieau and trainer Ron Matheson team up with Outrageous Song ($3.40) for a 1:57.2 score.
Majian Salsa ($9.90) was the best in the Rocket Chief Harvey & Randy MacEachern Memorial in race 9 for trainer-driver Jim Ripley prevailing in 2:00.4.
The Angus & Buddy MacKenzie Memorial in race 10 went to First Glance ($6.00) in a front-running 1:55.3 for driver Langille and trainer Devon Wallace.
The PC Party of PEI Pace in race 12 ended the program as Lady Devine ($2.70) won in 1:56 with Dowling driving for conditioner Jennifer Doyle.
