Charlottetown, PE – Red Shores Racetrack & Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park will stage a 13 dash race program Saturday with a new post time of 4pm.
With the change in the post time, the evening’s top class will be called to the gate at 7:18pm with Twin B Tuffenuff listed as the one to beat from post 5. Gilles Barrieau will drive the Ron Matheson trainee for owner Patrick Morris, Charlottetown. A win will secure his 6th victory of the meet and 40th lifetime. The star pacer is coming off a dazzling 1:54.1 winning performance on June 22nd where called all the shots and closed in a snappy 27.4 seconds. The power-packed field also includes Time to Dance (Marc Campbell), Laughagan Hanover (Corey MacPherson), Impeccable Shadow (Adam Merner) and Pictonian I Am ( Ken Murphy).
Post Time Picks by Kurt Hughes has Twin B Tuffenuff down as most probable in the official racing forum. “This is his last prep race before the Governors Plate eliminations on July 14th and I’m sure his connections would like to go into that race on a winning note,” said Hughes. “He has the outside post but faces a soft class by his standards so I’m betting he wins in a romp.”
Red Shores will also be pushing the Ise Pick 5 on race 1 into major broadcast and wagering markets earlier in the day. Shanes Dream could be at the top of the ticket as the morning line favorite leaves from the pole in the opener for driver Brodie MacPhee, Trainer Tom Weatherbie and ownership team of Blair & Carl Hansen, Isaac Schurman, PE, and Shane Esson, NB. The Isle Pick 5 offers a $2000 Guaranteed pool. Tricky Shooting also has a shot to lead off the player sequence for trainer Todd Hardy and driver David Dowling. Dowling competed Friday night in the National Driving Championship, presented by Standardbred Canada, at Hippodrome 3R in Trois-Rivieres, Quebec. The official results will be posted at standardbredcanada.ca.
The Premiere Mortgage Centre – Mike May pace will be presented in race 7 with Dylan Sam (Corey MacPherson) as the classifier’s choice while Post Time Picks has Rymar Jimbo on top of the ticket.
Saturdays in July will feature the All Star Handicapping Challenge with Ken Warkentin, Garnet Barnsdale and Robert Reid Jr. Top picks and standings will be posted on the Race Day broadcast and Red Shores official X platform. Players from across the country on HPI, along with platforms in the US, will have a chance to play and qualify to win a VIP trip for two to the Gold Cup & Saucer in August.
