CHARLOTTETOWN, PE – Windemere Skye remained unstoppable Tuesday evening during Old Home Week in Atlantic Sires Stakes action for rookie pacing fillies at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park.
The Earl Watts trained daughter of Somewhere Fancy left from the rail and handled all rivals winning her $15,540 A-division for two-year-old pacing fillies in 1:57.2 for driver Marc Campbell and owners Windemere Farms and Matt Burke. Windemere Skye ($2.10) prevailed over Exhilarating (Driven by James MacDonald) and Saulsbrook Desi (Brodie MacPhee) for her fourth win from as many lifetime starts.
The other $15,540 A-division for two-year-old pacing fillies went to Going For Blood ($8.90) and trainer-driver Kenny Arsenault in a 1:58.3 trip for owners Peter Smith and Gerald Morrissey. Woodmere Summer (Paul Langille) snagged second ahead of Mysterious Ways (Jason Hughes).
The $6,000 B-divisions of the Atlantic Sires Stakes for the rookie pacing fillies went to Mattnificent Rose ($6.30) in race 2 for driver Ken Murphy and trainer Joe Baxter in 1:58.1, Bakers Dozen ($6.70) in 1:59.2 in race 4 from the John Clarey barn for driver Paul Langille, and Electraflying ($4.40) and driver James MacDonald in 1:58.2 for trainer Darryl MacLean in race 8, while race 10 was claimed by Elm Grove Uncannie ($3.20) in 2:00.1 for Murphy and Baxter.
Kapueno ($4.00) captured the Carolyn “Soup” Gormley Memorial with Paul MacKenzie driving for trainer Vaughan Doyle in race 1, with Nova Scotia Strong ($4.00) winning the Gordon Neill Memorial in race 3 with a 1:55.1 trip for trainer-driver Mike McGuigan.
The Poulton Family Memorial in race 5 saw Run For The Money ($5.40) victorious in 1:57 for trainer-driver Brady Sweet.
Western Delight N ($5.40) was the best in the PEI Energy Systems Pace in race 7 in a 1:55.3 trip for trainer Luke Burke with Ryan Desroche in the driver’s seat.
The Angela Roberts Smith Friends & Family Pace in race 9 had Wizard ($17.80) circle the field in 1:57.1 for the duo of driver Adam Merner and trainer Alan MacDonald.
Pendleton Rodeo ($10.00) hit the line first for trainer-driver Merner in a 1:55.4 clocking in the Paul Weeks Memorial in race 11.
ABC ($3.60) opened up to win the Kier Jones & Allie Carr Memorial in the race 13 finale in 1:56.2 for trainer Clifford Murphy and driver Paul MacKenzie.
